Yay! Many Chinese are scared of coldness getting "inside of" the body. The belief comes from the ideas of hot and cold in taoism. I get chastised almost daily by at least one person for Eden not being bundled up enough (even as it's getting much warmer!). I bet she always had to wear her shoes at the orphanage and may have gotten in trouble if she took them off. How wonderful that she'll get to experience the delightful feeling of running her toes through cool grass one day!
